Borrowed from Ancient Greek Ἀρταξίας (Artaxías), from Old Persian 𐎠𐎼𐎫𐎧𐏁𐏂𐎠 (a-r-t-x-š-ç-a /⁠Artaxšaçā⁠/), or from another Old Iranian language *Artaxšaθra-.
