British spelling ‎(countable and uncountable, plural British spellings)

  1. (countable) The preferred manner of spelling of certain words in the English language in the United Kingdom and in general most Commonwealth countries and those with a history of British influence, typically as compared to the American spelling in the United States. English language spellings in Canada generally follow British spelling, with some words having the American or both spellings.
  2. (countable) Such a spelling.
