Named as a result of an auction in 2005 for the naming of the new species of monkey. The online casino GoldenPalace.com won the auction, paying $650,000 for the privilege.

- A taxonomic species within the family Pitheciidae – a New World monkey, native to Bolivia, now Plecturocebus aureipalatii.
