Arabic form-I verbs with their past vowel a (فَعَلَ (faʕala)) and their non-past vowel i (يَفْعِلُ (yafʕilu)). In both cases, the vowel in question is the last vowel in the stem, which varies from verb to verb. This is a very common pattern and is used mostly for non-stative verbs.
