If I have one criticism of these books, it’s that they are a bit confusing. They rely very heavily on 1) math and 2) the worldbuilding’s internal logic, both of which were a slippery slope for me. However, I do still enjoy them! Even if the competence porn factor is like watching people play 12D chess when you don’t even know the rules of chess to begin with. There’s also a lot to chew on in terms of ethics, which might not be a selling point for everyone, but is a selling point for me!
