Etymology[edit]
It means “its summit never melts”: doo (“not”) akʼi (“on top”) ʼa- (3rd-person indefinite subject pronoun) + yi- (transitional aspect denoting change in form) + -ł- (transitive classifier) + -lííd (verb stem meaning to melt off)

One of the six sacred mountains of the Navajo. Dookʼoʼoosłííd, associated with diichiłí (abalone) and the color yellow, marks the western boundary of Dinétah.
