French press (plural French presses)

  1. (bodybuilding) A triceps exercise involving lying face up and lifting a barbell; lying triceps extensions.
  2. (US) A coffee plunger; a cafetière.

Usage notes

In American coffee shops, “French press” coffee may refer either to an individual plunger of coffee made to order, or to previously prepared press coffee dispensed from a thermos.
