Montepeloso
Appearance
Italian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Morphologically from monte (“mountain, mount”) + peloso (“hairy”), probably just an alteration of the original Latin name mōns (“mountain, mount”) + lapillōsus (“covered in pebbles”). The name of the town was changed in Irsina in 1895, probably to give a more pleasant and harmonious sound to it.
