PIE *dukā-?[edit]

Latin ēducāre (< ex + *ducāre) and Germanic tugōną hint at a PIE stem *dukā- (< *duk-eh₂-). Any info on whether these are indeed reflexes of a common stem or just individual formations of the daughter languages? EstendorLin (talk) 00:19, 31 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

For Latin at least, the shift to first conjugation is pretty common in derivation, so I wouldn't take educare as proof of the existence of a simplex *ducare. --Barytonesis (talk) 00:25, 31 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
