A PIIr *-tʰ- would have given an Iranian *-θ-. This is why I suppose the aspiration in Sanskrit was caused by the laryngeal. Lubotsky's reconstruction also supports this. -- माधवपंडित (talk) 02:36, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@माधवपंडित: I'm pretty sure Proto-Indo-European *-stH- becomes Proto-Indo-Iranian *-štʰ-, and then Proto-Iranian *-št-. That's what User:Victar/Wiktionary:About Proto-Iranian says. Also, Lubotsky's reconstructions never turn the laryngeal into aspiration. Pinging @Victar. —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करेंयोगदान) 16:45, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@AryamanA: So PIIr -tʰ- is a plain -t- in Iranian in the neighborhood of an s? -- माधवपंडित (talk) 16:56, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, that's exactly what's happening: PII *s/šCʰ > PIr *s/šC, ex. PII *stʰuHnáH (column) > Av. stūnā. In fact, I has that exact example already in the chart. =) --Victar (talk) 17:48, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Victar, AryamanA: Ah, that makes sense: I'm moving this back. -- माधवपंडित (talk) 12:01, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
