Strong verb

[edit]

I was confused at why I couldnt find a PGmc form for strong *winkaną too, though I sought hard for it. It is attested in ME (winken, wank, wunken); and in OHG,, I figured that it was more than a later type made analogous to other similar sounding verbs like sinken. The OHG form is winken. Both winchan and winkon seem to be hapax forms. Strong forms appear in MHG and are considered secondary throughout the literature. — This unsigned comment was added by 84.188.191.231 (talk) at 18:21, 22 April 2018.
