Usage notes

• Similarly to English, German Couch and Sofa can be used interchangeably, but are often vaguely distinguished: Pieces with hard armrests are mostly called Sofa, while pieces with no armrests at all are mostly called Couch. In the case of soft armrests, there is a difference insofar as German tends to prefer Sofa, whereas English may prefer couch.
