@Atitarev, Cinemantique, Wikitiki89, Wanjuscha, Per utramque cavernam, Guldrelokk ruwikt says this is always inanimate but I'm guessing it's actually animate in the meaning "weakling, wimp". Right? Benwing2 (talk) 23:30, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Benwing2, Cinemantique: Yes, and I think ruwikt has mistranslated the animate sense. According to D. Ushakov it's Подросток хулиган, безнравственный мальчишка. [1] is a good source, as usual. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 23:56, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The quotations in ruwikt don't demonstrate well the animate meaning of "огарок". I also think this sense is now dated. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 00:00, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Atitarev Большой толковый словарь says "3. Разг.-сниж. О слабосильном, жалком человеке, заморыше (обычно о подростке). У него в семье пятеро огарков. Куда тебе справиться с этим, о.!" which seems to agree with ruwikt. See [1]. Generally this dictionary seems reliable. Benwing2 (talk) 01:28, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Benwing2: Thanks, I found that sense. Also in T. Yefremova. BTW, your фирст example just confirmс the "rowdy" sense: У него в семье пятеро огарков - "He's got five (little) rascals in the family." --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 01:55, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
