Etymology

I don't think so, Calak. Old Armenian h- cannot be reconciled with Middle Iranian x-. The meaning too is far. A good PIE etymology has been proposed for Armenian, which I will add shortly.

Ačaṙean mentions Northern Kurdish xîm as an Armenian borrowing. It reflects the regular dialectal reflex խիմ (xim) (Van, Moks, Salmast etc.) beside հիմ (him). Also borrowed into Turkish as him and Urmia Neo-Aramaic as xim. --Vahag (talk) 12:01, 22 July 2018 (UTC)

@Vahagn Petrosyan: x- in Middle Persian [script needed] (hym /⁠xēm⁠/) should be belong to Middle Persian. I think that Parthian form should be [Term?] (/⁠*(h)ēm⁠/) (compare Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (ṣbw; hyl /⁠xīr⁠/, “thing, matter”), Parthian [Manichaean needed] (ʿyr /⁠īr⁠/, “thing, matter”) and Old Armenian իր (ir)). Compare also Avestan 𐬵𐬀𐬌𐬌𐬀 (haiia), 𐬵𐬌𐬌𐬀 (hiia, “peculiarity”) (with h- not x-).--Calak (talk) 12:31, 22 July 2018 (UTC)
