I've been organizing Category:Japanese nouns to make sure everything is indexed right (after screwing up a lot of my own entries). This term was not indexed, and when I looked at it, it was flagged {{attention}} with no details given. Just looking at the term, it appears to be an SOP entry of 江戸前 (Edomae, the seas near Edo (Tokyo), Edo style) + 寿司 (sushi). It has it's own JA WP entry at w:ja:江戸前寿司, but skimming through the article, it sounds an awful lot like just plain old 江戸前 + 寿司, and I'm not sure if this is enough of a set phrase to merit inclusion. Anyone else care to weigh in?

If we decide to keep, the 江戸前寿司 entry here needs some cleanup -- proper POS templating, etc. -- Eiríkr Útlendi | Tala við mig 20:32, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

  • It seems a bit like the entry for French bread. Fugyoo 20:48, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Thing is, French bread is pretty much synonymous with baguette, which seems a bit more specific, whereas 江戸前寿司 is, well, sushi - a bit more like if French bread just meant "bread in the French style, generically speaking."
Then again, I've never been to sushi school, so there may be a lot more to 江戸前寿司 (as opposed to any old 寿司) than I'm aware. -- Eiríkr Útlendi | Tala við mig 21:45, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
RFV attempts to verify that a word exists; SoPness is for RFD to decide. Are you denying this exists? If not, save us all time and go straight to RFD. --Mglovesfun (talk) 23:23, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Thanks Mglovesfun, I was under the impression that RFV was also for verifying if something was valid. I'll post to RFD, then. -- Cheers, Eiríkr Útlendi | Tala við mig 01:13, 16 September 2011 (UTC)

First posted to Wiktionary:Requests_for_verification#江戸前寿司, moving discussion here. This entry appears to be just SOP of 江戸前 (Edomae) and 寿司 (sushi). Is it worth keeping? -- Eiríkr Útlendi | Tala við mig 01:24, 16 September 2011 (UTC)

From your comments there, no. - -sche (discuss) 01:37, 16 September 2011 (UTC)
