Jian3

Why was "jian3" for Mandarin removed? Some databases (including the Nom Foundation database) have this listed for Mandarin, and it seems to match the Vietnamese reading more closely. 24.29.228.33 16:42, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

I checked three of the largest and most authoritative sources that I have access to:

I also checked the Kangxi dictionary. None of those sources listed jian3 as a reading. Databases such as the Nom Foundation database are a convenient reference aid, but should not be considered the ultimate authority for such questions. Such databases are vulnerable to inadvertant copying of data into wrong places, and probably don't have the kind of quality oversight that the above resources enjoy.
