Kenneth can also be regarded as archaic 3rd person singular form of to ken (Scottish alternative for to know). Moreover, this grammatical form may have catalyzed the evolution of the Gaelic proper names mentioned in the article whose original meanings could have become vague by the time of Robert Burns. Kenneth as a proper name could then be interpreted as "[he wha] kenneth", i.e. "someone knowledgeable".
