Question on BE+NL or chiefly BE

[edit]

@Lingo Bingo Dingo. I suppose it's about absolute and relative occurrence. There are 12000 people in Belgium with this name (so ~2.5x times as many). [1] I think it's safe to assume almost all will be Flemings as the name sounds very Flemish/Dutch and is not easy to pronounce in French. An occurrence of (roughly) 12000/7 million Flemings versus 5000/17 million Dutch; so per capita, the name is roughly six times as common in Flanders. Perhaps this does warrant a "chiefly Belgium"-label? Morgengave (talk) 10:05, 26 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yes, that seems like a good approach. That it is more common in Flanders is also not really surprising given that Ghent is an important site for a mediaeval saint of the same name. Also, the name is quite more common in North Brabant and Limburg than in the rest of the Netherlands. ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 10:15, 26 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
