Talk:cuentes
"We are not here for cuentes"
anybody knows what "cuentes" means here?
does it just mean "talk" literally?
- I think you must mean cuentos, which is stories, gossip. Could also be cuentas (calculations, answers). The word cuentes with an -es is a verb. —Stephen 05:37, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Unfortunately, it is "cuentes" I am talking about for sure, for I saw it printed in the movie script, also the character pronounced it exactly the way as written. I myself also studied in Spanish for couples of years so I know what the other similar words you provided above mean, which did not seem to apply to the sentence as I checked before posting the discussion here earlier. And that's why I try to seek answer here. Could it possibly be some slang used by the Hispanic gang or something? And what could it possibly refer to? Thank you very much.
- I’ve never heard of anything like that. Maybe it was said by someone who doesn’t know Spanish very well. Americans frequently get the vowels wrong. —Stephen 07:16, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
I see, and I agree with you. :P
