Comment on definition[edit]

My understanding is that the meaning of dogleg is "a kink in something nominally straight (or at least smooth) such that it takes a (sharp) bend followed quickly by a second sharp bend back to approximately the same direction". (I realise that definition is a little unwieldy). In particular, a dogleg is not just a corner/bend it is always a matched pair of corners/bends.

(a) Is that correct and (b) should applications of this definition - such as a dogleg on a golf course - be included as if they are "the definition"? I mean I could define "leg" as "a - a support for a table", "b - a support for a person" "c - one of 4 supports for an elephant" "d - one of many supports for a millipede" but that would be silly. -- SGBailey 09:02, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
