Related to the word drolatique, no?

Etymology: troll unrelated

[edit]

Dutch drol is not from Old Norse troll, neither borrowed nor inherited. In either case, the change from t- to d- could not be explained.

de Vries and de Tollenaere ("Etymologisch Woordenboek") and Kluge ("Etymologisches Wörterbuch der deutschen Sprache") state that Dutch drol is related to drillen ("to twist"). --2001:9E8:D482:1500:ED2:92FF:FED1:D909 13:20, 30 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
