"(euphemistic) An excuse, apologetic justification not based on enough evidence." Current usage example (apart from being politically inflammatory) puts the word in scare quotes, suggesting this isn't a separate sense but just sarcasm/sneer. Equinox 12:43, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
