British English uses "disk" for computer media except in "compact disc" and "optical disc". Any evidence that this alternative exists and isn't just borne out of an assumption that "disk" and "disc" are always interchangeable? — Paul G (talk) 07:00, 14 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Cited, and very easily - literally hundreds if not thousands of Google Books hits. Interestingly enough, the cites don't necessarily back up the "Britain" label - only one of the quotes is definitively British. BigDom 08:58, 14 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
