I believe this word is incorrectly transcribed. It should be kamo. The accent is on the first syllable. The second syllable contains a vowel sound that is common in Arawak languages but that is not found in English (or Portuguese). UPDATE re: kamá: I have confirmed that this is not correct. The correct spelling of this word is kamo and the IPA phonetic transcription is /ˈka.mɨ/. This is a common word and I have confirmed with multiple native speakers that it must be changed to kamo. I also have found a more recent source that spells the word correctly. See p. 243 in Burst of Breath: Indigenous Ritual Wind Instruments in Lowland South America by By John G.
