Pronunciation /ˈlɪtʃ.n̩/

It's in Merriam-Webster, which now labels it British (I don't think it was labelled British at the time I added it in 2013). It's also in oxforddictionaries.com's British dictionary alongside /ˈlaɪkn̩/, whereas their American dictionary only has /ˈlaɪkn̩/; Cambridge gives both pronunciations but their American audio has only /ˈlaɪkn̩/ whereas their British audio has only /ˈlɪtʃ.n̩/. Is "lichen" another plural?

I think its both countable and uncountable. I didn't look for suitable instances of "the lichen are|were|have". DCDuring TALK 11:59, 23 February 2017 (UTC)
