Etymology[edit]

The Spanish Wiktionary says that the word "loco" comes from the Greek γλαυκός, but this article attributes it to the Arabic lawqa. Any idea which is correct?

I have seen a further etymology, from a word ulucus "owl", but Portuguese louco does point towards an older -au-. --Florian Blaschke (talk) 04:59, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
