Newbie to wiktionary, yes, will attempt to fix the format sequence. However, this term entered the Oz language in late 1980s, as a result of extensive concern that the transfer of technology across cultures and contexts requires more skill and knowledge than just technological literacy or technical skill implies. This led to a Federal Government Policy on Technacy education for all Australians in 1996.

Reality is, new challenges face people every year related to new technological issues that are complex. Technacy was picked up by the Australian Standard Macquarie Dictionary in 1991, and has been upgraded to the Concise and student version last year by the editors.
