Northern Ireland[edit]
I believe that the transitive form is also used in Northern Ireland. Certainly Seamus Heaney uses it in his translation of Beowulf ("...what they had tholed") and he states in the introduction (which I don't have a copy of unfortunately) that he took this from the English he grew up with in County Derry. 62.235.227.168 14:31, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
