  • Slavic words are inherited from Common Slavic *tъlmačь, but this proto-form is borrowed from Turkic. Hungarian word looks suspiciously close to Slovene word, so it is most likely that it was borrowed from some (now extinct) Pannonian Slavic dialect. --Ivan Štambuk (talk) 06:42, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
