"venter" as a synonym for "vendor" is highly suspicious. I do not see it in any dictionaries I reference.

Then you don't reference very good dictionaries. It's certainly real, just obsolete and rather uncommon, at that. The OED has an entry with two 17th-c. uses. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 02:52, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
