Pronunciatory transcription[edit]

Are we sure that this wouldn't have a linking R in the RP pronunciation? I'm of the opinion that it would. --Wytukaze 23:17, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I imagine that the US pronunciation would be /ˌʍɛɻ.əˈlɔŋ/, but I think the RP pronunciation would be as it is now. Due to this being formed as “where + along”, the syllabic break would fall as marked, and as RP doesn’t pronounce <r>s at the end of syllable, there would be no “linking R”. Unfortunately, as this word is so rare, I think it’s unlikely that there will exist any authority from which we may reference a pronunciatory transcription. † Raifʻhār Doremítzwr 23:36, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
