Usage

This template may be used on Wiktionary entry pages to quote Corinna; or, Italy (1st edition, 1807), a translation by Dennis Lawler of Germaine de Staël’s work Corinne, ou l’Italie. The template can be used to create a link to online versions of the work at Google Books.

Parameters

The template takes the following parameters:

• |1= or |volume= – mandatory: the volume number quoted from in uppercase Roman numerals, from |volume=I to |volume=V.
• |section= – mandatory in some cases: if quoting from the section that starts on page 62 of volume II, page 234 of volume III, page 242 of volume IV, or page 232 of volume V, specify |section=1.
• |2= or |page=, or |pages= – mandatory: the page number(s) quoted from. When quoting a range of pages, note the following:
  • Separate the first and last pages of the range with an en dash, like this: |pages=10–11.
  • You must also use |pageref= to specify the page number that the template should link to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears).

This parameter must be specified to have the template determine the book and chapter quoted from, and to link to an online version of the work.

Note the following errors in the work:

• Chapter III of book V (volume II) is misnumbered as chapter VI, chapter IV of book XVII (volume V) as chapter II, and chapter IV of book XX (volume V) as chapter VII. The template uses the correct number, in square brackets.
• Some pages are misnumbered; e.g., page 235 of volume I as 135; specify the correct number.
• Books V (volume II) and IX (volume III) have ⟨.⟩ after “Book”. The template does not change this.

• |3=, |text=, or |passage= – a passage quoted from the work.
• |footer= – a comment on the passage quoted.
• |brackets= – use |brackets=on to surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, “some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell”) rather than an actual use of it (for example, “we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset”), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.
