Usage[edit]

Preferred usage involves the folllowing named arguments:

  1. past for the simple past form, a hyphen can be used for non-existant forms
past2 for a second past form should it exist.
imperfect for an imperfect form - BUT only if a past form is non-existant
imperfect2 for a second past form should it exist.
  2. tenses for defective verbs - those with a restricted number of tenses
= "pres" or "present" prints: (found only in the present tense)
= "pres-imp" prints: (found only in the present and imperfect tenses)
= "ch-pres-imp" prints: (chiefly found in the present and imperfect tenses)
= "imperfective" prints: (found only in imperfective tenses)
  3. passive for the passive form (for use with active verbs), a hyphen can be used for non-existant forms
passive2 for a second passive form should it exist.
  4. active for the active form (for use with passive verbs).
  5. type to categorise the following verb types:
= "active" or "act" (optional, may generally be omitted)
    = "passive" or "pass"
    = "deponent" or "dep"
    = "impersonal" or "imp"
    ( = "mediopassive" or "med" — removed April 2018)

Examples[edit]

Example syntaxes below are followed by their respective outputs:

{{el-verb|past=έδωσα|passive=δίνομαι}} produces:

δίνω (díno) (simple past έδωσα, passive δίνομαι)

{{el-verb|past=-}} produces:

αγωνιώ (agonió) (simple past -)

{{el-verb|imperfect=συνέπασχα|tenses=pres-imp}} produces:

συμπάσχω (sympáscho) (imperfect συνέπασχα) found only in the present and imperfect tenses

The old positional parameters can no longer be used.
