Can we make a width= parameter to make ! work properly (not make the userboxes squished)? —Internoob (TalkCont.) 21:45, 23 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Using #babel

[edit]

There's an RFDO of the babel templates used by this template going on at the moment. Regardless of whether it passes or fails, can anyone see any downsides of switching {{Babel}} to use the #babel: function? --Yair rand 07:22, 26 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

That's been archived at [[Template talk:User en]].—msh210 (talk) 16:21, 25 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Default message

[edit]

"This user cannot read or write any languages. Assistance is required" is it a joke? Please replace it with a useful error message. --Z 14:20, 25 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Agreed; this is stupid. Equinox 11:31, 3 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Still quite an amusing joke, 11 years later. Fond of sanddunes (talk) 23:33, 11 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

Can we add (or if it exists, document) this? There are users that add Babbel boxes as a joke which is a bit annoying because they are then incorrectly categorized. Fytcha (talk) 17:48, 2 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Documentation should explain how to add a language

[edit]

For example I don't know where to look to find or edit the text "This user knows the basics of how to write Python code and make minor tweaks", which appears if you put "python-1" in the template. Equinox 11:33, 3 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

What’s going on with the Tibetan user box? I see it on other users’ pages, but on my page it won’t render.

[edit]

I have tried adding it in my simple babel template, as well as with a separate user template, and it won’t render on my user page, even though I’ve seen it render on other user pages. It’s also not rendering here:

This is my first time posting in any talk/discussion page on Wiktionary, and I'm bringing up an issue where {{Babel|zh-1}} (and possibly more) will show two of the same text, see to the right. CasualCycloneTracker180897 (talk) 22:24, 25 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Not a bug. The text at the top uses traditional characters and the text at the bottom uses simplified characters. — SURJECTION / T / C / L / 22:28, 25 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oh. I just didn't notice the difference in the characters before, and I'm more familiar with simplified Chinese anyways. CasualCycloneTracker180897 (talk) 22:39, 25 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
