I'm not sure what {{{1}}} and {{{2}}} are supposed to do? Are they just for any generic comment? Mglovesfun (talk) 15:25, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Classifiers[edit]

Do classifiers need to come before the noun? It's not what we normally do, have something not in bold before the noun, then the noun in bold. Why not after the noun in brackets, then you can use {{head|vi|noun}} for the whole thing, as that's what head does. Renard Migrant (talk) 12:07, 29 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Re: "Do classifiers need to come before the noun?". Yes, that's what Vietnamese dictionaries do, it's the convention at viwikt, too often to be ignored. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 12:20, 29 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

cls_note[edit]

@Wyang What about this kind of layout? Especially since there is only one classifier parameter and one note; what about different classifiers for >1 senses? —Suzukaze-c 07:18, 25 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ideally it should be a definition-line template, as each of the senses can have their own classifier(s). It would be good to create a generic definition-line classifier template for Vietnamese, Thai, etc. I'm not really fond of splitting parts of speech further by classifier; it often disrupts the continuity in senses and creates more work for splitting other PoS-associated content, such as derived terms. @Suzukaze-c @Wyang: I'd be in favor of a sense-specific inline template similar to {{zh-mw}}. The current {{head}}-based layout is perfectly understandable to Vietnamese speakers, but it doesn't offer enough context to non-Vietnamese speakers. This is apparent in lemmas such as táo: technically, we should break out separate senses for the tree (cây) and the fruit (trái or quả depending on dialect).
