Macedonian Noun Templates: Updates
I have solved the problem with the masculine noun template - I edited the code such that one has to enter three parameters for it to fill out. Now it's all right. As for the neuter nouns with the intrusive "-ј" and the feminine nouns with an "-e" ending in the vocative, I have created templates, which you can find at "учителка" and "искушение". Could you categorize and document them? Also, could you tell me how to categorize them myself so that I don't have to ask you every time I make a template (particularly as I have to make more for the nouns with the disappearing "ј" and the ones whose ending doesn't match their gender)?
I think it would make more sense if the plural stem was the same as the singular by default. And maybe there would be a sensible default for the vocative as well. That way you would still be able to do most nouns with just one parameter.
Categorising templates is done through the documentation subpage. You need to create it and then change the category it pre-loads for you.
I don't think it makes more sense that way, because there are many different ways of plural formation - if we don't have separate singular and plural stems, we'd have to make multiple templates for masculine nouns. I personally find it more difficult to copy paste a different template name all the time than just keep pasting the same one and typing out three stems rather than one. The vocative may be able to work with a default, but I can't identify a specific rule - the masculine vocative is generally very non-rigid (kind of like the de-nouns in Dutch with the variable gender).
As for categorisation, I copy pasted the documentation from the templates you made exactly (i.e. I copied the text that appeared when I pressed the "Edit" button on the documentations page) to my new ones, but they are still "uncategorised". I don't know what I did wrong.
I think you misunderstood. I meant that the default plural stem would be the same as the singular. This would mean that if this is the case (which it usually is, I assume) then you can leave out the plural parameter altogether. It's a bit less typing that way.
If pages aren't appearing in the right categories, it sometimes helps to do a "null edit" on the page. This means that you edit the page, and save it without making any changes.
Oh, all right. If you can make the template work like that, i.e. with an optional plural stem, fine. I don't know how to code that. I agree it would be more feasible.
If I do this, I would need to make the plural stem the third parameter, rather than the second. Otherwise you'd have to "skip over" the plural each time to provide the vocative.
All right. I placed the plural as second in case it happens that I don't know the vocative, such that I can easily leave it blank. You can switch them. By the way, I fixed the template categories - thank you for the instructions.
You haven't mended the masculine noun template, based on what I can see. Should I start using it the way it is, with the three obligatory stems? I don't mind it the way it is, but if you plan on changing it later, I'd have to go and edit all the entries I've made using it, to rearrange the stems and all.
