I have replied on Wiktionary_talk:Requested_entries_(Chinese)#.E5.A5.A5.E8.BF.90.E5.8C.B9.E5.85.8B. --Anatoli (обсудить/вклад) 04:45, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

Thank you; how many Google hits and Google Books hits are there for this term? If a lot, might it not indicate that this is an alternate spelling, not a wrong spelling? For the city of Cleveland, for example, there are two equally valid Mandarin spellings. 13:13, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
You might just comment on the topic, not here. It's not common enough to merit a full entry. I have made a redirect to 奥林匹克. --Anatoli (обсудить/вклад) 23:15, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

Please don't re-add 晩餐 to the requests. It uses a Japanese-specific character. There's "also" just on top of the entry. The Chinese spelling is 晚餐. Please also check the comments, check the entries carefully, so we don't have to notify you personally. --Anatoli (обсудить/вклад) 23:12, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

Why did I just find it under the spelling I added in a Chinese-language newspaper? 03:31, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
Here is the link: 03:34, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
The link doesn't matter. We have criteria for inclusion. Typos and conversion problems are common, due to inefficiency of input or human errors. --Anatoli (обсудить/вклад) 03:41, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
Sorry, what does that mean? I just provided a source--a Chinese-language newspaper. Further, the two characters you said were Japanese-only have "Mandarin" sections in their own Wiktionary entries. 03:42, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

Welcome to Wiktionary![edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wiktionary! We notice that you're making changes anonymously. Although this is perfectly all right, we'd like to encourage you to take the time to create an account and sign in to it when editing – it's free and easy. A number of good reasons to do so are listed at Wiktionary:Why create an account?.

Please note that we are not Wikipedia. If you have edited there, it won't be very difficult for you to find your way here, but there are a number of differences. For example, Wiktionary is case-sensitive: Kind (German) is not the same as kind (English, Danish, Dutch etc.) Also note that Wiktionary never uses parenthetic disambiguation, so where Wikipedia might have separate articles on Mercury (planet), Mercury (element), and Mercury (mythology), Wiktionary will only have one entry on Mercury which addresses proper noun uses, and an entry on mercury which addresses regular noun uses.

Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Questionable entries will be listed for verification, and, if they fail that process, will be deleted. Also, keep in mind our copyright policies: don't copy material from copyrighted sources here. Such additions will be deleted on sight. Submissions from IP addresses unfortunately are looked at more closely, so please take a minute to create an account.

If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question in the appropriate discussion room or ask me on my talk page.

Enjoy your stay at Wiktionary! Ready Steady Yeti (talk) 17:29, 25 May 2014 (UTC)

Thank you; I have been editing at en:Wiktionary for almost 10 years. 17:31, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
Oh, well sorry then. Ready Steady Yeti (talk) 18:19, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
It's the problem with anonymous users. For some reason, they don't bother registering and no-one remembers them. People don't memorise IP-addresses and they may change, when you use a different computer or change your IP-address for whatever reason. --Anatoli (обсудить/вклад) 06:16, 26 May 2014 (UTC)

Ancient musical instruments[edit]

When you add requests to WT:RE:zh with some ancient Chinese musical instruments or other rare words, could you give some links too or give an English name, if you know it? --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 03:01, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

Sure, I will. When a specialist term is not found in Zdic or similar online dictionaries, it is often found in Google Books. 06:04, 6 January 2015 (UTC)

Pro Tip: Don't be rude and condescending to other editors[edit]

Editor 173, please do not be so rude in your edit comments. Your repeated reverts and impolite edit summaries at and Talk:綠 are out of line.

In addition, if other editors revert your additions, please discuss your changes and build consensus before unilaterally re-adding them. Failure to do so will result in a block. ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │ Tala við mig 23:48, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

I'll have to rub it in. I have invited you many times to participate in normal discussions without adding {{attention}} to every page that seems incorrect to you. Since you don't want to change your habits, I'll have to mass-delete any of your new entries in talk pages without looking at them. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 06:39, 5 May 2015 (UTC)
