Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wiktionary. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wiktionarian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk (discussion) and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~, which automatically produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the beer parlour or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! — Dvortygirl 08:00, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

thanks[edit]

there are a lot of formatting requirements, but as soon as i figure them all out, i will love this place!

Formatting[edit]

The basics to get you started:

==Language==
===Part of speech===
'''article title'''
#Definition.

If you type a word that doesn't exist yet into the search box and hit 'go', it offers a choice of correctly-formatted automated templates. You can also find and copy a well-formatted article.

Happy editing. —Dvortygirl 08:09, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

thanks again![edit]

wow, that was fast! yeah, basically, i've been looking at the formatting on other definitions, keeping it simple and then i figure i (or someone else) can go back and add on/refine any definition's i create as i get the feel of things. and before you start worrying, i'm not half-assing anything, the basic analogy to explain it i guess would be i'm starting with a skeleton and adding more info as i figure out how... In answer to your questions, basically, this is a wiki, so please add whatever you can and, yes, someone will probably be along later to clean up or improve things. Everybody understands that newcomers will learn as they go. Dictionary entries need not be very long to be a good start, and some of the entries we have here would be impossible for any one person to create alone. If you're interested, read one more guideline, then jump in and start editing. Since you seem nervous about it, I'll take a look at your contributions soon and offer my advice, but the very fact that you're reading policies now suggests to me that you're the sort who will pick up on those basics quickly and apply them conscientiously. Now, please go have fun. —Dvortygirl 20:10, 7 February 2006 (UTC) P.S. By the way,amorphic looks just fine.[reply]
