Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wiktionary. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wiktionarian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk (discussion) and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~, which automatically produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to one of the discussion rooms or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! RJFJR 17:14, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Headings[edit]

Hi, please remember to put == English == at the top of each English entry, followed by ===Noun===, ===Verb===, ===Idiom===, etc. This may seem over the top to begin with, but it helps keep the otherwise phenomenally complicated data we deal with in order. If you have any doubts then please read WT:ELE and copy the layout from existing entries where you are unsure of formatting. Conrad.Irwin 19:38, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Languages you don’t know[edit]

Please do not add words in languages that you know nothing about. Thai is not written in the Roman alphabet, but in letters like แก๊ส. Persian is not written in the Roman alphabet, but in letters like فارسی. French does use the Roman alphabet, but all French nouns have gender, and you need to include the gender when you add them. —Stephen 09:44, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
