BD2412, thank you a ton for your tireless, unceasing works to update the plural template lately :) We know you have gone out of your way to do so during slow hours, to reduce the amount of annoyance the spam creates at the recent changes page, and for this we are very grateful to you :-) I nominate User:RobotBD2412 for bot status so that you can do your work without worrying anymore about spamming "recent changes" during busy hours.  :-) Of course, if you want your bot to have a different name, you can just edit this vote page. By the way, I think you'll have to create the user before the vote ends, in order for the Wikigods to implement it. Again, thanks for all your work!!! :D Language Lover 04:27, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure I want or need a bot - part of the purpose of this exercise is to pick out other errors in these entries as I go through them, which a bot would just ignore. But if I have one, I'd like it to be called User:BD2412bot bd2412 T 04:37, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose[edit]

  1. Oppose EncycloPetey 03:34, 12 March 2007 (UTC) No indication is given anywhere for what this bot is designed to do. I oppose carte blanche for 'bots. --EncycloPetey 03:34, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, that's true. I have no idea what I would do with a bot. I prefer using AWB because it allows me to look at the entire entry and fix things other than the automated edit. Even where there are no other fixes to be made, at least I'll know that I've passed my eyes over it. bd2412 T 03:42, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Forgive me for my lack of clarity, I made the nomination not so that BD2412 can make an actual robot, but so BD2412 can do the AWB changes manually using a robot account, so as not to flood recent changes. Afterall if everyone clicks "hide minor changes" because there are millions of entries there, then any vandals can vandalize with impunity :) Forgive any confusion I caused, and thank you everyone for all your terrific work to unveil the beauties of diverse words!!!! :D (Signed Language Lover)
Well if I could do AWB changes with a bot account, and thereby keep a cleaner recent changes screen, I certainly would do so. bd2412 T 04:33, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As long as you remember to set minor edits by default, people can click [hide minor edits] in Special:RC. OTOH, it is convenient to have a bot account on hand for a quick category rename. --Connel MacKenzie 06:26, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Abstain[edit]

  1. Abstain Connel MacKenzie 20:42, 11 March 2007 (UTC) I wouldn't mind seeing the bot BD2412bot (talkcontribs), as that is the naming convention we're supposed to be using. For RecentChanges, he merely needs to remember to change Special:Preferences to mark all as minor, by default (when doing heavy lifting with AWB.)[reply]
