I notice that several entries such as veļ or nǟdõ have been created without "stød" / broken tone being indicated in the entry itself or in the IPA pronunciation. I don't know what the usual practice for written Livonian is, but if these are left unmentioned, there ought to be a note here about that. --Tropylium (talk) 20:07, 22 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tropylium, it's not part of standard liv orthography per se (although in some cases it is implied, e.g., always before voiced obstruent geminates – lu'ggõ, etc.)
Dictionaries (namely {{R:liv:LEL}}) use an apostrophe to indicate it, I introduced this usage in the headword line.
Another thing I've been thinking about is perhaps introducing glottalization symbol in IPA (following Danish example) – /veʎˀ/, etc. Neitrāls vārds (talk) 03:31, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
OK, if it is normally only used in dictionaries, I guess I have some Proto-Finnic entries to clean. Over at pages like *lehmä, *nakris I've so far been including links to Livonian entries such as "nī'em", "na'ggõrz". Though I guess we can continue to use this in the descendant lists as well, even if not in the entry links themselves? --Tropylium (talk) 06:19, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The way it's entered right now looks best (as a transcription) because it can be relevant in etymologies because in some words it is a reflex of a deleted *h, e.g., I wanted to add an apostrophe in nǟ'dõ in *näktäk as it's evidently a vestige of a deleted *h there.
Btw, completely random question: does Suomen sanojen alkuperä say anything about aika? EES says "Balt. origin compare Lith. eiga," I find it curious that Karulis in his etyl for laiks mentions a Sudovian ajka (but he doesn't elaborate on the Finnic words which to me wouldn't come as much of a surprise though as he generally seems very un-knowledgeable about Uralic languages to me.) But that's nothing pressing, was just curious what SSA says. Neitrāls vārds (talk) 07:15, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

LEL on livones.net[edit]

I'm attending a Livonian beginner course in Tartu. The lecturer recommended using the version of LEL at livones.net (link), which is an updated version, rather than the one at murre.ut.ee, which is identical to the print version. The latter is apparently identical to the print version, while the former is being revised and updated. 62.65.33.194 16:44, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
