Usage notes

[edit]
  • The grapheme ⟨x⟩ is here employed for /ʃ/ as many instances of /ʃ/ in Old Sicilian do derive from a Latin x, as for example coscia, otherwise this symbol has however been used to adopt borrowings from foreign languages. The grapheme was also widely used in Ibero-Romance languages with the same scope.
