Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Latin ad de in illam horam, or from in illa hora, resulting in a hypothetical early Romanian *inioară, combined with de and a, as with many adverb constructions. Compare Italian allora, from illa hora and Spanish ahora, from hac hora.
