From aft, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Albanian *aweita, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Indo-European *h₂ewh₁- (compare Ancient Greek ἀῦτμη (aûtmē, breath), Welsh awel (breeze)),[1] meaning to have will, to have power or breath to do something. Alternatively from Latin aptus.[2][3][4]
