Etymology

From Vulgar Latin *agurāre, from Latin augurāre, present active infinitive of augurō. Cf. the standard form augurare, which was a borrowing or learned modification. Compare Spanish agorar, Portuguese agourar, agoirar, Occitan agurar, Sardinian aurare, obsolete Romanian agura.
