[edit]Borrowed from Spanish alfonsino (“Alfonsine”), in honor of Alfonso XIII, king of Spain from 1886–1931. The haircut was also known as the “Amadeo cut” or the “Aguinaldo cut”, after Amadeo I of Spain, king of Spain from 1871–1873, and Emilio Aguinaldo, first president of the Philippines, respectively.
