From Proto-Albanian *arwā, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂rh₃uer-, from root Proto-Indo-European *h₂rh₃ (arable land, soil); compare *h₂erh₃- (to plough). Cognate to Latin arvum (corn-field), Ancient Greek ἄρουρα (ároura, arable land).[1] Related to arbën and arbër. See arbën (Albanian) for more.
