Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Albanian *arwā, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂rh₃uer-, from root Proto-Indo-European *h₂rh₃ (“arable land, soil”); compare *h₂erh₃- (“to plough”). Cognate to Latin arvum (“corn-field”), Ancient Greek ἄρουρα (ároura, “arable land”).[1] Related to arbën and arbër. See arbën (“Albanian”) for more.
