- (dialectal, dated) A hermaphrodite, or a person who transgresses norms of gender, sex, or sexuality.

- Gjertru var meir enn vanleg stor og breivaksen. Folkedrøset ville ha det til at ho var boing.
- Gjertru was bigger and broader than a normal woman. The town gossiped that she might be a hermaphrodite.
- (by extension) Something that possesses two opposing qualities.
