Named after Hungarian nobleman Gáspár Bekes (Polonised as Kasper Bekiesz) + -ka.[1][2][3][4] First attested in 1586.[5]

For the use of the suffix -ka in the names of clothes, compare radziwiłka, węgierka, konfederatka.
