Etymology

Borrowed from French cor anglais (literally English horn), calqued from a misunderstanding of (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Middle High German engellisches horn (angelic horn), from the resemblance of the instrument to horns played by angels as depicted in the Middle Ages.
